There are a number of arts and crafts museums in the Hakuba region.  Each art gallery is rich with its own individual works by people from Hakuba as well as overseas.   

La Foret Hakuba Art Museum
(7 min. By car from Hakuba station)

You feel Marc Chagall's spirit in the lithographs and copperplates, and fans of his will be amazed at the number of works, usually about 120 on display. He is known as a master of colors and his fantastic works are popular in Japan. Chagall's works and life are also captured on multislide screens presented in the museum.

Saegusa Art Museum 
(5 min. By car from Hakuba Station)

Hakuba is a 700-acre garden whose wild mountain grasses will welcome you with open arms. Hakuba's nature and the Northern Alps are captured in about 100 oil and water paintings by a group of artists who love to paint the Hakuba area.  As well as the beauty of the region, the crowned princess Masako's grandfather's works are also on display in this gallery.

Miyajima Handicraft Studio 
(2 min. By car from the station)

This studio has a warm atmoshere with it's traditional wooden handicrafts. The owner and other artists living in Hakuba have made wooden handicrafts based on the lives of farmers in the region. Each artist has his or her own individual style that is based on simplicity.   Souvenirs are available and are a great memory of you trip to Hakuba.

Tetsuo Kikuchi's Mountain Photograph Gallery
(10 mins. By car from Hakuba Station)

Next to Wadano Forest church is this small green art gallery. Tetsuo Kikuchi is famous Japanese mountain photographer.  His magnificent mountain photos are on display here.
